The terrace

The tables on the valley side are few. They go first.

The glass-walled dining room at Flavore, with a cane roof and windows open over the Valdinievole valley
The terrace at Flavore, Via Gavine 29, Buggiano Castello.

The room sits above the old village of Buggiano Castello, among the olive groves. The windows run the whole length of it, and underneath them the Valdinievole opens out towards Montecatini Terme.

If you want a table by the window, add it to your booking or tell us on the phone. There are only a handful.

The food

Tuscan, cooked the way it is cooked here

Bistecca fritta at Flavore, cut into thick pieces on a black plate

The wood grill, pasta rolled by hand in the kitchen, cured meats and cheeses from these hills, salt cod, vegetables in season, a dessert made that day. Three dishes people come back for:

  • Bistecca fritta

Fried steak, not grilled: cut thick, fried until the crust turns golden, still pink inside.

    €5.50 per 100 g, priced by weight
  • Pollo e Coniglio Fritti

Chicken and rabbit, fried the old way. On the menu it's pollo e coniglio fritti — one of the two dishes people come back for.

    €15
  • Tortelli di patate

Pasta parcels filled with potato, rolled by hand here, served with meat ragù.

    €15
